No! Of
course you don't!
These guys
didn't have a college degree and they did pretty well:
Richard
Branson
Mark
Zuckerberg
Steve Jobs
Henry Ford
David Karp
Larry Ellison
Kevin Rose
Michael Dell
As we grew
up we were taught to go to school, get good grades, find yourself a good job
and work your way up a ladder. You get to the top and realize its not what you
have always wanted, others never make it to get a job in line with what they
studied. When teaching students the lecturer or the teacher guides all students
down the same route, towards a common goal. Learning should be tailored to
match and nurture each individual’s skills and abilities. As you will find out
that the guys mentioned on top had to come up with their own unique way of
thinking and that is what has made them successful in business. First forget
all theories that they filled your head with about what you should or can do,
Find your own way of thinking; in other words think different and break rules
cos they were all set by someone who was not smarter than you. If you are that
type of a person, you were made to be an entrepreneur; you have the power to
build things out of nothing.
At the
moment I don't think you need a degree to be an entrepreneur but I do see
usefulness in it. Degree gives leverage, improves your networking skills
probably due to the social life university provides. Others it offers self
validation that they are competent in a certain field. I applaud all graduates
on this site for taking a much direct route to your degree. If you don’t have
one that should not stop you from starting your own business, just work a
little smarter or harder it’s up to you to choose the way that works for you.
Mark
Zuckerberg – He dropped out of Harvard to start a social networking site that
its today worth Billions of dollars, I guess in case you are thinking of
dropping out just remember this:-You are not dropping out of Harvard. All this
success has come out of a dorm room project that took off to take this world by
surprise and change the way we communicate. It was Mark’s ambition and vision,
he worked so tireless to make it a reality. There were More than 10 other
social networking sites before Facebook, All am trying to say that it takes a
deep obsessive personality to turn an idea in to something.
To become an
entrepreneur does not matter how many papers you have behind your name, it’s
more of a strong work ethic, having a bold vision and willing to risk it all to
make it happen.
