TEN LAWS OF SIMPLICITY

“Simplicity is the ultimate of sophistication”- Leonardo Da Vinci.

Law 1: Reduce
The simplest way to achieve simplicity is through thoughtful reduction. If in doubt just remove what you think you do not need. You will be able to do more by doing less, reduce the clatter and focus only on what really matters and counts. Keep the main thing the main thing.

Law 2: Organize
Organization makes a system of many appear fewer. An unorganized office or room looks messy and it easy to get distracted, the same way to your work/life. You will be able to accomplish a task easily if you are organized.

Law 3: Time
Savings in time feel like simplicity. An average human being spends about one hour in a day waiting in a line or an elevator, so it would feel good if you get to save at least a minute of your time.

Law 4: Learn
Knowledge makes everything simpler. Using a manual to figure out how to operate a new machine would violate the third law i.e. Time but in the long run it would be the best.

Law 5: Differences
Simplicity and complexity need each other. All things cannot be made simpler and if they were we would get bored this leaves a room for some complexity.

Law 6: Context
What lies in the periphery of simplicity is definitely not peripheral. I have not been able to understand clearly what this law means; i guess you can leave a comment.

Law 7: Emotion
More emotions are better than less. Human are creatures of emotions we would understand anything better if we can relate to it.

Law 8: Trust
In simplicity we trust. We cannot trust something that we do not understand; Things have to be simple for us to understand.

Law 9: Failure
Some things can never be made simple. They never change, still remain complex.

Law 10: The one
Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious, and adding the meaningful. We have to narrow our focus to what we need, say no 1000 things.
