Customer intelligence(knowing what your customer wants) is the 21st Century currency to grow your business.A very sophisticated customer, its hard to understand him/her, Cos the customer does not for sure know what he/she wants. If you could have asked customers before the Macintosh, how computer should look like? They would have probably told you, a fast computer, low consumer product(They would not give you an idea how it should be done and how it should look like)
I do not mean that you should go to the market being over confident but design your product or service then go ahead and launch. Test the market with free/low cost samples(When the customer use's your sample's they can offer feedback on what to improve/change). Have the courage to follow your imagination of what you customers expect from you, It either works or not work at all.
Am not an expert but your product or service does not have to be a low consumer product, satisfy every need or expectations. Good design counts(We will always keep opening our wallets to gorgeous products and services that make us feel cool and smart). Keep it simple,be unique and offer a valuable product or service, price is secondary.
